AGRA Watch supports African initiatives and programs that foster farmers’ self-determination and food sovereignty, and is willing to work with the Gates Foundation in pursuit of this goal. In order to cultivate such a relationship, AGRA Watch demands that the Gates Foundation be more transparent in its endorsements of policies, and more accountable to its stated goals.

How does AGRA Watch pursue its objectives?

AGRA Watch hopes to share information with and take the lead from organizations and individuals already promoting alternatives in African communities. We aspire to develop a campaign strategy that builds off of and supports the experiences of these groups. Throughout this process, we plan to educate ourselves and the public through outreach, teach-ins, and forums, which we hope will facilitate a public understanding of the role of the Gates Foundation, the problems with AGRA, and the potential of movements for global food security and sovereignty.
